The story
Indonesia is the world’s biggest supplier of nickel, a crucial component of electric car batteries.
However, nickel mining on Sulawesi island is causing environmental damage and is severely disrupting the local livelihoods.
Client: Kerk in Actie & STT University, Tentena.
the goal
Cruzomundo was asked to educate the students at the local STT university in Tentena Sulawesi, to tell these urgent stories.
The workshop
Cruzomundo designed an unique program to instruct these novice students in the art of film and documentary filmmaking.
The results were beyond expectations.

personal note
During his youth, Jaap van `t Kruis grew up in Tentena on the island Sulawesi.
For him to be back here after 30 years was an amazing experience but also a painfull reality check.
